Topic: Closure

Follies (or what remnant is left).

Sometime ago Paul asked me about closing the board, it does take effort and resource to maintain and keep open. While he is happy to do this when we are active, we cannot prevail upon him to do so for ever if we are not making use of the asset at our disposal, and made so by his good will and efforts.

Accordingly as there has been little activity here of late I should like to canvas views on closure (if any). Feel free to say what you will here or start another thread in private.

If, however,  I hear nothing, or there is concurrence, I will ask Paul to close the board in a months time (roughly, and more notice will be given).

If the board is to be closed I suggest if you want any of the old posts you DL them and the email addy's

Sorry to have to do this, but in gaming terms we have endured as long as Byzantium, and now share it's death throes.

For the avoidance of doubt I would want it to remain, but if it is not used there is no point.

Sent you a friend request on FB.

Holy crap - I didn't know you were so versed in Japanese culture!  I grew up in Iwakuni, Japan.  I was last there from 1977 - 1984.  My dad was a civilian at that time but he was working as a field engineer for the computer systems on the marine corps base.

I would love to see these boards stay up - but I have been guilty and not frequented much as of late.  I kind of shut down for a while when I was going through my grief.  I kind of hid for a while.

Donald - I know you are no longer on FB but Jo is. Can you share your email address or the best way to reach you?  I would like to keep in touch with you.

Re: Closure

Nibs, I will start a new thread in Private so we can all give whatever contact details we want to. Hopefully those that see will add their current details on how they want to be contacted.

Never was in that City, Mostly up in Tokyo although I had to travel for business and some pleasure from time to time inside the country.  Closest I ever got to that area was probably when I went to Oita in Kyushu.  Closest I got on Honshu was probably Kobe.  Always meant to visit Hiroshima, but for whatever reason never did.  Travelled more in the North and Central of Honshu.

BTW I think I accepted your request...I'm honestly not sure because I am used to forum handles and not real life names still.

Re: Closure

I guess we all knew this day had to come eventually.  Still sad to actually see it become a reality.

I've been as guilty as anyone for being AWOL for long stretches, but do sincerely miss all of you.  I hope that someday in the not-too-distant future (you know, before Cesca kicks the bucket) we can get together in person again.  The few get-togethers that we had were a blast!

Anyway, I understand that this site isn't free, and will post my contact info in the private area.

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

I would love to meet up again!  It would be nice to see each other after all these years and get caught up.

Re: Closure

Follies,

You will have seen my instruction to Paul to close the board at the end of September. Get whatever you need from the board before then.

Most of all copy the contact details.

The Follies have been together in one form or another since the last millennium! We have made good friends, let's try and keep that friendship in other media.

It has been an honour and privilege to know you all and play with you all for over two decades. I doubt our like will be formed again.
